Transport bosses are warning of a busy weekend in the city centre – with a knock-on effect on trams and buses.
With yesterday the last payday before Christmas for many people, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is expecting a huge influx of shoppers.
There will also be large crowds flocking to the Christmas markets again this weekend.
With Enrique Iglesias expected to draw big crowds at the Phones4U Arena as well, services are expected to be busy over the weekend but especially today.
A TfGM spokesperson said: “We will be doubling our tram service over the weekend and will have plenty of staff at key stops on the network to help with the expected increase in city centre visitors.
“However it goes without saying that services will be busy so we recommend people allow extra time for their journey, check times for return journeys and leave time to get through rail stations as queuing systems will be in place.
“We would also advise visitors not to aim for the last train as it is anticipated that it will be an extremely busy service.”
