Churchill as you’ve never seen him before: Rare pictures of former PM from a young man to his state funeral released to mark 50th anniversary of his death

The images capture Sir Winston Churchill as a boy aged just six (left), as a young man while training for the armed services at Sandhurst, and touring the beaches of Normandy after the Allied invasion (top right). The pictures, which have lain virtually unseen in the archives of the Daily Herald since they were first published, have been released to mark the 50th anniversary of Churchill’s death on January 30th, 1965. The images include those taken on the day of his state funeral (bottom right).
